Determination of lead and cadmium in water samples by cloud point extraction prior to flame atomic absorption spectrometry determination

Pb and Cd in water samples were determined by cloud point extraction (CPE) with sodiumdiethyldithiocarbamate (DDTC) as the chelating agent and octylphenoxypolyethanl (Triton X-114) asthe surfactant prior to flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) determination. The main factorsof affecting the extraction and detection processes were optimized. The preconcentration of 10 mL ofstandard soluti...

Determination of the trace element contents of Althaea rosea seeds by Atomic Absorption Spectrometry and evaluation using multivariate analysis

In the present study, trace elements including Na, Mg, K, Ca, Mn, Fe, Cu, Zn, Cd and Pb in Althaea rosea seeds were determined by flame and graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry. This method coupled with microwave-assisted acid digestion, based on a mixture of nitric acid and hydrogen peroxide. In order to get a better insight into the elemental patterns, the chemometric techniques of...

Validation of an analytical method based on the high-resolution continuum source flame atomic absorption spectrometry for the fast-sequential determination of several hazardous/priority hazardous metals in soil

BACKGROUND The aim of this paper was the validation of a new analytical method based on the high-resolution continuum source flame atomic absorption spectrometry for the fast-sequential determination of several hazardous/priority hazardous metals (Ag, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn) in soil after microwave assisted digestion in aqua regia. Determinations were performed on the ContrAA 300 (Analyt...

Elimination of Chemical and Spectral Interferences in Measurement of Trace Elements in Urine and Blood by Combined Electrodeposition-Electrothermal Atomic Absorption Spectrometry

A combined electrodeposition-ETAAS technique has been applied to the analysis of Pb, Cd, Co, Ni, Cr and Mn in biological samples in order to overcome interferences and to minimize sample pretreatment. It requires minimal sample preparation with the electrolysis process aiding partial decomposition of the organic matrix, adequate for the release and deposition of trace elements. In an initia...

Optimized simultaneous determination of several elements in human intestinal Caco-2 TC7 cells by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry after closed vessel microwave digestion.

A rapid procedure, based on closed vessels microwave digestion and inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), was evaluated to ascertain the effect of chronic exposure to cadmium on intracellular accumulation of minor and essential trace elements in cultured epithelial cells (Caco-2 TC7). For all measurements, the method of external calibration was used and 3 elements (Be, Sc, In) w...
